The Board of Directors of the European American Chamber of Commerce of Greater Cincinnati met in the afternoon of Thursday, October 24 in the Learning Center of the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber. Board President Yannick Schilly convened the group by welcoming proposed new board members and noting the departure of long-time friend, supporter, and leader of the EACC, Joe Dehner (who will step down from the board at the end of the year).
After approving the minutes from the July board meeting, the group appointed Michael Dektas of the Miller Valentine Group and Matthew Sweeney of Fifth Third Bank to fill vacant board seats through the end of 2019. The Board also reviewed and approved the slate of candidates that will be presented for election at the Annual General Meeting on November 21. The board expressed thanks to Nominating Committee Chair Sheila Spradlin-Reich and other members of the committee for their work.
Board President Yannick Schilly reported on actions taken by the Executive Committee since the previous Board meeting; then he updated Board members on the continuing efforts to strengthen the EACC’s international network.
Board Treasurer Chris Flaig reported that the EACC had received a clean audit for our books for 2018 and reviewed other aspects of the EACC’s internal operations. Executive Director Schwartz then highlighted some significant events over the previous quarter; including some more recent developments and upcoming events.
There was some discussion on steps forward with revisions to the European Investment Map, and Board Vice President Dominic Franchini explained the progress made to date by a working group looking at potential changes to EACC membership levels and benefits. The Board also heard reports on the status of the French American Business Alliance and the proposed ‘Comitato Italiano.’
Board President Schilly closed the meeting by reminding Board Members to get their tickets for the Beaujolais Nouveau Premiere on Thursday, November 21 (immediately following the Annual General Meeting).
A complete set of the meeting minutes will be available for review by EACC members once they have been approved at the Annual General Meeting in November.
