EACC Behind the Scenes - February 2018

We're Going To Italy!
At its February 21 meeting, the EACC’s Economic Development Committee solidified plans to organize an investment promotion tour to Italy in late May.  As you know, the EACC has been building a relationship with Italian businesses and organizations through a series of trips and visits, including our hosting of Italian Ambassador Armando Varricho at our Annual Gala in 2017.  Our primary goals for the trip are threefold:
  • Encourage additional inward investment from Italian firms already operating in the Cincinnati Tri-State region
  • Encourage new inward investment by Italian firms with established customers in our region
  • Highlight opportunities in the Water Technology sector in our region
Key elements of the trip will include a briefing from local officials on the state of the Italian economy, business climate, and key sectors like machine tools and water; a “suppliers conference” for Italian companies already selling to customers in the Cincinnati Tri-State region; and a robust schedule of B2B meetings.  A stop in Milan would be the centerpiece of the visit, with at least one additional stop to be determined (Bologna? Genoa? Rome?)

We’re planning for a small group of no more than four to five participants, hopefully including at least one representative of an Italian firm already operating in the region.

I’m telling you this not only because I’m really excited about this development, but because for this trip to be successful, I need your help.  Specifically, I want to know:
  • Is your company or organization interested in participating in this trip?  If so, let me know ASAP so we can start identifying our team.
  • Does your company have suppliers in Italy that you would prefer to have here in the region?  If so, get me the details about the company so we can invite them to our suppliers conference.
  • Do you have a connection to an Italian company in the region that is not an EACC member (companies like Corghi USA or Datalogic or EXOR America)?  I’d deeply appreciate an introduction!
I’ll be reaching out to the Italian EACC member companies separately with some additional requests, but wanted to share this with our broader membership.  And I also want to publicly thank the members of the Economic Development Committee and co-chairs Jessica Johnson (City of Mason) and Jody Gunderson (City of Hamilton) for their insight and enthusiasm.

One other thing – also on the horizon is a possible trip to Helsinki in December!  Stay tuned!

EACC Young Professionals Executive Insights Series
Tonight, the EACC hosts our first young professionals Executive Insights event of the year at Corkopolis Wine Market & Bar on Main Street in downtown Cincinnati.

We are delighted to welcome our featured speaker and Senior International Executive Daniel Wachter. I am also pleased to share that we have a waiting list for this event!

Because this event series is off to such a fantastic start this year, I thought I’d take a minute to again highlight the series for the remainder of the year. Please find the remaining 2018 calendar of events below.

The Executive Insights series, which falls under the EACC’s talent development pillar, was born out of a pervious EACC young professionals series called Boardroom Insights. Like Boardroom Insights, the Executive Insights series is designed to give young professionals from the Greater Cincinnati region a chance to connect with top-level global business executives to discuss topics such as professional development and what it means to be a future global leader. However, members of our EACC Young Professionals Committee expressed a desire to host these events in a more casual (yet still professional) environment. Thus, we revamped the Boardroom Insights events to create a more relaxed and intimate event experience that fosters engaging dialogue. Specifically, each Executive Insights event is kept small (a maximum of 15 registrants in addition to Leadership Committee members) and is hosted with light appetizers.

Since we launched the Executive Insights series last year, the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. We look forward to launching the 2018 series tonight, as we work to highlight and showcase Greater Cincinnati as a place to have an exciting and rewarding global career. Please encourage young professionals at your company or organization to attend!
