EACC Behind the Scenes: Board of Directors Holds First Quarter 2020 Meeting

The Board of Directors of the Cincinnati Chapter of the European American Chamber of Commerce met at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 23 for its regular quarterly meeting at the First Financial Bank Innovation Center at 1 E 4th Street (thanks for hosting us!).  After a brief round of introductions, Board President Yannick Schilly reviewed just a few of the highlights of our very successful 2019, mentioning in particular our concerted efforts to identify new leadership and a new direction for the French American Business Alliance. Nelly Bonniol, our new FABA Chair, is a real ‘fireball’ and is already working to implement an ambitious but realistic plan for three conferences in 2020.
After the Board approved the minutes from the November 2019, Annual General Meeting, Executive Director Todd Schwartz took a few minutes to underscore some accomplishments from 2019 (including our new webinar series and the YouTube channel we launched in December).  He then explained some ongoing projects to include
  • Our efforts to build a coalition of partners to leverage the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra’s European Tour in November as a way to raise the profile of our region in Europe;
  • The proposed visit of French Ambassador Philippe Etienne to Cincinnati as Guest of Honor and Keynote Speaker for our Annual Gala on Thursday, May 21; and
  • Continued efforts to build up and build out the EACC chapter network, including new chapters in Florida, Washington DC and Brussels.
Board Treasurer Chris Flaig presented an updated and revised Financial report (which was well received by the Board); then Executive Director Schwartz updated the group on the revised plans to update the European Investment Map.
Board Vice President Dominic Francini then took the floor to update the board on steps our Membership Working Group is taking to address concerns raised in our 2018 Voice of the Customer study about explaining (and capturing) the value of EACC membership, noting we still intend to implement a revised and updated membership structure as part of our 2021 membership renewal cycle this fall.
Full minutes of the Board meeting will be available for review by EACC members once they have been approved at the April 23 Board meeting.
