Despite COVID-19 Pandemic, EACC Greater Cincinnati Operations Continue Full Steam Ahead

Since we moved out of our offices at 3 E. 4th street in mid-March, the EACC staff has continued to work remotely in line with Ohio’s shelter-in-place order. Nonetheless, the EACC’s work on behalf of its members continues full steam ahead. As always, the Cincinnati chapter of the EACC is working to ensure members have access to relevant and timely information as it relates to transatlantic business.  Given this unprecedented time of uncertainty, the EACC has pivoted to increase the availability of webinars. The EACC staff is also working to facilitate connections on behalf of members to ensure they have access to appropriate resources.

As work continues apace, we thought members might like a ‘peek behind the curtain’ at the organization’s day-to-day operations during this global pandemic.

Executive Director Todd Schwartz has set up office in a spare bedroom on the second floor of his house in Mt. Washington; his wife Nancy, Minister of Communications at the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, is working from the living room on the first floor while their daughter, Grace, continues her UC studies at her computer in the basement. You may have noticed that Todd has been moderating most of the EACC network webinars. In fact, the EACC network (which includes EACC chapters in the US and Europe) has hosted nine webinars so far this year with nearly 1200 people registered, and the EACC YouTube channel has had over 400 views in just the last 28 days.

Operations Manager Dayna O’Brien’s situation is somewhat different – she and her husband James, who works in supply chain for Kroger, are juggling conference calls and meetings while sharing responsibility for the care and entertainment of their 18-month-old daughter Edie. Nonetheless, Dayna is available and committed to serving EACC members!

Accounting Manager Joanna Deri continues to serve EACC members on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from her home in Clifton. Joanna and her husband Thomas also recently adopted a beagle puppy named Pablo! 

Todd and Dayna connect using Microsoft Team every morning and afternoon to coordinate projects and workplans; Joanna also joins a call at least once a week to review income, expenditures and cash balances.  Our biweekly calls with Yannick Schilly and Dominic Franchini (Board President and Vice President, respectively) continue and will be supplemented with Treasurer Chris Flaig and Secretary Jim Keller.  And for the time being, EACC Staff will also hold calls with the members of the Executive Committee every four weeks to ensure we stay on track.
