Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra Cancels European Tour

Some of you may recall as far back as the EACC Annual Gala in 2019 when we announced a collaborative effort between the EACC, the Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky Chambers of Commerce, REDI Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky Tri-ED to work with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra.  [We provided an update on our efforts in the February 11, 2020 EACC CintriFuse, Source Cincinnati, Cincinnati Convention and Visitors Bureau, Munich Sister Cities Association, University of Cincinnati, CVG and others, all focused on programming and activities that we could organize alongside the concerts to highlight the benefits of the Cincinnati region – from our vibrant start-up and entrepreneurship ecosystem, to our vast educational resources, to our vitality as a logistics hub, and of course the scores of European businesses that have already found success here.

But as you know, the Symphony announced the cancellation of its entire Fall season (including the European Tour) on July 27.  We were disappointed (but not entirely surprised) to hear the news.  However, the connections and partnerships that we’ve built will not evaporate, and we are already contemplating how to build on those connections to benefit both the EACC and our region.  (If you have ideas, let me know!)

And just a word of thanks to Daniel Wächter, a long-standing friend of the EACC and a CSO Board member; he alerted the EACC to this opportunity months before the Tour was announced and has been an active partner and support in this effort.
