What a night! Over 130 people braved the elements to join the French American Business Alliance (FABA) and the European American Chamber of Commerce of Greater Cincinnati to taste "the first wine of the harvest," the famed Beaujolais Nouveau. Following opening remarks by Board President Doug Moormann, Celebrity Auctioneer Jack Keegan of Miami University's wine tasting course offered the traditional toast: "le Beaujolais nouveau est arrivé!"
Guests were delighted with four different wines: Beaujolais Nouveau, Beaujolais Nouveau Rosé, a 2015 Morgon, and a 2017 Chardonnay, to match the remarkable menu developed and prepared by Executive Chef George Zappas and his team at the Hilton Cincinnati Netherland Plaza. The Faux Frenchmen provided a delightful musical backdrop for the evening; guests also got a 'sneak peek' of "Paris to New York: Photographs by Eugène Atget & Berenice Abbot" on exhbit at the Taft Museum of Art through January 20 (every guest also got a pass for two free admissions to the exhibit."
Incoming Board President Yannick Schilly welcomed all and underscored the importance of the work of the EACC, and Jack Keegan exhorted guests to 'bid early and often' on the ofer $10,000 worth of silent auction items on offer (including two round trip tickets to Europe courtesy of Delta Air Lines). And wine educators from Wine Trends helped guests better understand the nuances of the beverages on offer.
