Taste of Belgium
Young professionals in the Greater Cincinnati region are invited to attend the EACC Young Professionals Executive Insights event on December 7 featuring Jean-François Flechet, Owner & Founder, Taste of Belgium.
Jean-François Flechet was born and raised in Belgium. He came to the US to do a PhD in Economics at the University of Pennsylvania. He moved to Cincinnati to develop statistical applications for a market research company. Although he does not have formal culinary training, Jean-François loves to cook and is passionate about food.
After obtaining his green card, Jean-François decided to open his own business and bring a Taste of Belgium to Cincinnati. He went back to Belgium to visit his family and came back with a 120lb cast iron waffle maker. He began baking Belgian waffles at the back of a produce store at Findlay Market in May 2007.
The little business grew one waffle at a time, from one waffle iron and one person to 7 locations and over 400 employees. Taste of Belgium has become one of the larger and most respected restaurant groups in Cincinnati and serves Belgian dishes with a local twist and Belgianized American classics along with the best curated bier list in the city. Each location has between 24 and 54 drafts with a focus on Belgian biers.
