While the U.S. Government has rescinded proposed restrictions on international students whose schools were offering only on-line instruction, this threat combines with other challenges of the pandemic to chill enthusiasm for both inbound and outbound international student programs. Such international students are a vital source of talent for companies around the world, including the United States and Europe. Internships and co-op programs provide valuable experience for students and fresh energy and ideas for companies; these can also be valuable hiring pathways for companies on both sides of the Atlantic. Optional Practical Training, which provides meaningful work experiences for students, is also under threat.
Join the French American Business Alliance, a committee of the Cincinnati Chapter of the European American Chamber of Commerce, for a discussion with university administrators and employers from France and the United States to discuss these developments and assess their likely impact. We’ll have an lawyers on hand to clarify the current laws and regulations. And while our focus will be on France, the discussion will have implications for employers and educators across Europe.
